popularity is it good or bad??

i was thinking that day of popular people in college ... and it made me think what made them popluar ?? i was trying to link it with the high school movies which descriminate between the cool popular kids and the geeks =P .. but it doesn't work that way lool .. i figured we're all geeks and we're all together in this .. i discovered popular kids are the ones who have obvious characters .. like they have a sense of humor or they are the social kind who have connections and knows everyone.. or have their own distinguished style that made them special .. these people walk around and they know that everyone is looking at them and recognizing them .. they know they have the spotlights .. even all the doctors knows their name and their quality of work and their grades .. is this an advantage or disadvantage ??? when i think of it .. sometimes it occur to me what if i was one of these people .. i wouldn't really like it to be honest coz if you're not there or you thought of skipping a clinical session the doctors will notice and wonder where have you been .. if you're late they'll catch you coming in late =P .. if you wanna sleep in the lecture -> forget it , it's a really bad idea !!! .. coz they'll notice .. if you thought of doing anything someone will catch you and the words will spread about you ... so you should be cautious all the time coz people recognize you and they're watching you ...
on the other hand , being well known by the doctors can be useful , coz they would help out people they know more than the unknown people .. IF they like them of course .. you can contact them to know your mistakes or know your grades in a quiz for example .. get recommendation letters that could help you out in the future .. but when you think about it , eventually at the end of the year when they grade the exam papers they don't see the names ... and you're graded with what you have in the paper .. so everyone is treated equally and they're being fair with everyone wethere ur popular or not ..
so why do i want the spotlight??

actually, after thinkin i like to be a popular but it depends on the way . so i mean f being schemer , rude ( boys sec) OR being b**** , or hay lo0k it me (girlz sec) that is not go0d at all.
after all , we all want to be perfect , well know and popular .
it`s one of the reasons of being in MED schools..

i'm not lying to myself and maybe we have different opinions about it .. i don't think being well known will help u out or give u any extra credits .. but as i said ppl have different opinons :)
people r divded to those who like the popularity and those who don't,
from my prespective of view or my philosophy (name it what u want):
1st.. people who don't like the popularity; r divided into 3 groups:
1- those who like their privacy and don't want to be in focus in college, they prefer to be mysterious. But
outside college there might be another behavior... ummm maybe because they consider the college as only the place
of learning and having classes.
2- these people don't like to be popular in college, but they just need the popularity among a closed circle as
their group of friends "al shellah", refering that to:
I only need my popularity in "al shellah" because they r the ones who I deal with everyday and interact with:
studying, laughing, helping each other. No need to let other people outside "al shellah" know me.
3- this group lack the confidence in their selves and thinking that:
ooh I don' have anything special makes me deserve to be popular ! .
maybe they really doesn't have something special ?!
but in the end, they enjoy staying with the crowd watching the famous people on the stage.
2nd.. people who like popularity r those who think that they were born to be on the stage! not within the
crowd of fans !! ,simply they r divided into 2 difinite groups:
1- those who r working on it.. but they didn't compose the right comobination of popularity.
2- those who succeeded ! and living as famous ppl in college because they got the combo !! Here comes a question
"what the right combination of popularity" ?
some elements r naturally occuring as: being Rich, good looking(handsome), having the sense of humor, having a
special talent.
u r lucky if u got one of them ;-)

and other elements can be gained as : being social likes to make new friends everyday, being an active member in
college's conferences and festivals, learning a new talent, being stylish, being helpful to those students who r
younger by giving them advices about college and patients =p , or being "dafoor" with doctors, gossiping with
doctors after the lectures and in sessions .....etc
and everybody can add his own secret element to compose the successful magical combo!(MOGO) ;p

by the end I believe that the popular type among students and doctors is the best cuz u will have help from all
ppl when u need from anyone in his field. and u will have "was6at" from the doctors in future.
for me, my popularity with doctors is not that good ! =p cuz I wanna sleep in class and I wanna skip classes
whenever I want ! I respect what u said SOSO regarding that point.. really u got a point in here !

I assume I'm one of the popular guys in the collage in the last 3 years.
It's not an advantage at all. All the doctors know me very well and once they see any mistake, they start yelling at me that I've to respect the collage.
Even when some of them see me hanging out with my friendz they start talking about being lazy is not the right way in our school.
In the other side which is the students' side. Everything is fine but also not an advantage bcoz they asking me for patients all the time :). Except If u think feeling like the movie star is an advantage, so It's an advantage.
The last thing I wana talk abt is who is the popular one?
U try to put us in the strangers planet. Actully we believe that everyone sholud be wellknown in our school bcoz It's not that big school. Ithink we have abt 300 students.
So we should to start woking in our-self to be popular.
Girlz, Keep going with the beuty stuff
